"He could captivate an audience of students"

Thank you so much for sending me this kind invitation. “Ted” Lowi was my professor and advisor who began his career at Cornell at the same time I matriculated. He was part of a fabulous department, including professors Hacker, Burns and Rossiter, which is why I majored in and enjoyed Government.

I remember Professor Lowi more as a marvelous raconteur than a lecturer.  He could captivate an audience of students around a dinner table with a wealth of stories and anecdotes with his charming southern accent.

Although I have practiced optometry for 51 years, a profession I love, my background in political science has been invaluable especially during the time I spent as a board member and president of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association.

Unfortunately my wife Carol and I will not be able to attend this fine tribute to Professor Lowi, having just returned from southern Africa and Jordan shortly before the event.
