Ted Lowi was on my dissertation committee in the late 1990s, a committee he kindly agreed to be on even though I had never taken a class with him. What I remember (and miss) most about Ted Lowi is that voice. Passionate. Inspiring. Smile-inducing. Like a triple-espresso ingested through one's eardrums. My brain buzzed every time I left his office. It wasn’t just the substance of what he said but how he said it. Political scientists like Ted Lowi are all-too-rare, but those with larger-than-life voices like his are even rarer. I miss (hearing) him.
